THE WORLD FLAG ANT FARM 2025
The monograph ICARUS accompanied the first European retrospective dedicated to Yukinori Yanagi, offering an in-depth exploration of the fundamental aspects that have informed his work. The volume examines the influences that have shaped the artist’s trajectory and traces the evolution of his practice over the decades.
The exhibition at Pirelli HangarBicocca is documented through extensive photography, a conversation between Yanagi and the exhibition's curators, an unpublished text by the artist, essays by curator Mami Kataoka and art historian Reiko Tomii, and detailed catalogue entries on the exhibited works by leading scholars, enriched with a selection of historical images. Edited by Vicente Todolí with Fiammetta Griccioli. Contributions by Fiammetta Griccioli, Mami Kataoka, Chiara Lupi, Tatiana Palenzona, Teodora di Robilant, Vicente Todolí, Reiko Tomii, and Yukinori Yanagi, including two catalogue entries by Ashley Rawlings, one of which offers an analysis of Yanagi's newly commissioned installation The World Flag Ant Farm 2025 (2025).
